About the Authors
Georgi Gospodinov is a Bulgarian novelist and poet, regarded as the most important contemporary Bulgarian writer. Born in 1968, he won the International Booker Prize in 2023 for *Time Shelter*, a novel in which a clinic recreates past decades to treat Alzheimer's patients, but the experiment escapes into the wider world. He is also celebrated for his novel *The Physics of Sorrow*.
Angela Rodel is an American translator of Bulgarian literature who has lived in Sofia for many years. She translated Georgi Gospodinov's *Time Shelter*, for which she shared the 2023 International Booker Prize. She has translated numerous works from Bulgarian, including novels by Zachary Karabashliev and Alek Popov.
