Dave Eggers is an American author, editor, and publisher born in Boston in 1970. He won the 2024 Newbery Medal for *The Eyes and the Impossible*, a joyous novel about a free dog who serves as the eyes of three ancient bison in a city park. He is also known for his memoir *A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius*, his novel *The Circle*, and his work with McSweeney's literary journal.
