About This Book
Valeria Luiselli's novel follows a family on a road trip across America towards the border with Mexico as the parents — both sound archivists — move towards personal and professional rupture. Woven together with documents about the Central American refugee crisis, the novel interrogates how children are heard and how family and political narratives are archived. It won the Rathbones Folio Prize in 2020 and the American Book Award.
