About This Book
Tom Zoellner reconstructs the 1831 Christmas Rebellion in Jamaica, led by the deacon Sam Sharpe, which mobilized sixty thousand enslaved people in the largest slave revolt in British colonial history. The rebellion hastened abolition across the empire and is largely unknown outside Jamaica. Winner of the NBCC Award for Nonfiction 2020.
