About the Author
Doug Salati is an American author and illustrator who won the 2023 Caldecott Medal for *Hot Dog*, his author-illustrator debut, which tells the story of a hot, overwhelmed New York City dog who finds solace at the beach. He holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts and was a 2015 Sendak Fellow. He teaches at SVA and is studiomates with fellow Caldecott laureates Sophie Blackall and Brian Floca.
