About This Book
Eley Williams's debut collection of short stories is a joyful, formally inventive exploration of language, miscommunication, and the comic inadequacy of words. Stories range from a keeper at a museum of smell to a woman who becomes obsessed with a particular word, via insects, animals, and human longing. The collection won the James Tait Black Prize for Fiction in 2017 and established Williams as one of the most distinctive new voices in British literary fiction.
