Yaa Gyasi

Yaa Gyasi is a Ghanaian-American novelist born in Mampong, Ghana, in 1989. She grew up in Alabama and studied at Stanford University and the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Her debut novel Homegoing (2016) won the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize, the PEN/Hemingway Award, and the American Book Award. Transcendent Kingdom (2020) was a finalist for the Women's Prize for Fiction and a New York Times top ten book of the year.
