About Vajra Chandrasekera

Vajra Chandrasekera is a Sri Lankan author of science fiction known for ambitious, politically engaged work that draws on South Asian history and mythology. His novel The Saint of Bright Doors was a Hugo Award finalist and Locus Award winner. Rakesfall was a Locus Award finalist for Best SF Novel in 2025. Chandrasekera is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. His short fiction has won the Nebula Award and appeared in numerous best-of anthologies. His novels are known for their metafictional structure, their engagement with colonial history, and their refusal of conventional genre frameworks. He continues to write and publish from Sri Lanka and is one of the most internationally recognized Sri Lankan speculative fiction authors.
