Susan Patron

Susan Patron is an American children's author and librarian who won the 2007 Newbery Medal for *The Higher Power of Lucky*, a novel about an orphaned girl living in a tiny California desert town. The book generated controversy due to the use of the anatomical word 'scrotum' in its opening pages. She worked as a librarian for the Los Angeles Public Library for many years.
