Seamus Heaney

Seamus Heaney (1939–2013) was an Irish poet, playwright, and translator widely regarded as one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995 and the T.S. Eliot Prize in 2006 for District and Circle. His work drew on rural Irish life, the Troubles, and classical tradition.
