Sarah Bernstein

Sarah Bernstein is a Canadian writer based in Scotland. She is the author of Study for Obedience (2023), which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2023 and the Giller Prize. The novel follows a narrator who moves to a northern European country to keep house for her brother, and is written in a dense, unsettling style that explores complicity, prejudice, and the history of antisemitism. Bernstein holds a doctorate from the University of Glasgow.
