About Sabaa Tahir
Sabaa Tahir is an American author of Pakistani origin best known for her An Ember in the Ashes fantasy series, which began in 2015 and has sold millions of copies worldwide. Her standalone novel All My Rage (2022) won the Michael L. Printz Award and the Pulitzer Prize for YA Fiction (inaugural). All My Rage is a contemporary novel about two Pakistani American teenagers in the Mojave Desert navigating family trauma, addiction, and first love. All My Rage is a departure from Tahir's previous fantasy writing; it is semi-autobiographical and draws on her experience growing up as a Pakistani American Muslim in California. The novel was praised for its emotional honesty and its precise depictions of motel life, substance abuse, and the weight of cultural expectation. Tahir was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and grew up in the Mojave Desert. She worked as a newspaper editor at The Washington Post before becoming a full-time author. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
