Rumaan Alam

Rumaan Alam is an American novelist and journalist born in 1979. He studied at Yale University. His debut novel Rich and Pretty (2016) was followed by That Kind of Mother (2018). Leave the World Behind (2020) was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction and was adapted into a Netflix film in 2023, directed by Sam Esmail and starring Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali. Alam is a contributing editor at The New Republic.
