About Rebecca Makkai

Rebecca Makkai is an American novelist and short story writer born in 1978. She studied at Middlebury College and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her debut novel The Borrower (2011) was followed by The Hundred-Year House (2014). The Great Believers (2018) was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award for Fiction, and won the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. Makkai serves as the director of the Aspen Words Literary Prize.
