About Pat Barker
Pat Barker is a British novelist born in Thornaby-on-Tees, Yorkshire, in 1943. She studied at the London School of Economics. Her early works, including Union Street (1982) and Blow Your House Down (1984), focused on working-class women in the north of England. Her Regeneration Trilogy, set during World War I—Regeneration (1991), The Eye in the Door (1993), and The Ghost Road (1995)—won the Booker Prize for The Ghost Road. The Silence of the Girls (2018) and The Women of Troy (2021) retell the Trojan War from the women's perspective.
