Pam Muñoz Ryan

Pam Muñoz Ryan is an American children's author of Mexican and Chicana heritage, born in Bakersfield, California in 1951. She received a 2016 Newbery Honor for *Echo*, a multipart historical novel about a magical harmonica that passes through the lives of three children during World War II. She is also known for *Esperanza Rising* and *Riding Freedom*.
