About Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman is a British-American author celebrated across multiple media including novels, short fiction, comics, and screenwriting. He won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel for The Ocean at the End of the Lane (2014). He is also known for American Gods (Hugo, Locus, and Bram Stoker winner), Coraline, Stardust, The Graveyard Book (Newbery Medal), and the Sandman graphic novel series. Born in Portchester, England in 1960, Gaiman worked as a journalist before becoming one of the defining creative voices of his generation. His fiction blends myth, folklore, and urban fantasy with literary ambition. The Ocean at the End of the Lane, a slim novel about memory and childhood magic, was voted the UK's favourite novel at the Specsavers National Book Awards. Gaiman has lived in the United States for many years. He has been the subject of significant public controversy since 2024 regarding allegations of sexual misconduct.
