Michaela Goade

Michaela Goade is a Tlingit/Haida author and illustrator who is the first Indigenous person to win the Caldecott Medal, which she received in 2021 for *We Are Water Protectors*, written by Carole Lindstrom. She is from Sitka, Alaska, and her illustrations often draw on her Indigenous heritage and the natural world of the Pacific Northwest.
