About Lou Berney

Lou Berney is an American crime fiction author known for his dark, literary crime novels. He won the Anthony Award for Best Novel for November Road (2019), a novel that begins with the Kennedy assassination and follows a mob fixer sent to eliminate a witness who saw too much in Dallas. The novel was also shortlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger. Berney was born in Oklahoma City and studied at Stanford University. His earlier novels include Gutshot Straight and Whiplash River. November Road was praised for its emotional richness, its fully realized characters, and its portrait of 1960s America seen through the lens of crime fiction. He teaches creative writing at Oklahoma City University and lives in Oklahoma City.
