About Laura Lippman
Laura Lippman is an American crime fiction author known for the Tess Monaghan series and a series of acclaimed standalone novels. She won the Anthony Award for Best Novel for After I'm Gone (2015), a multi-decade investigation into a bookmaker who disappeared after faking his own death. She is widely regarded as one of the finest crime fiction writers of her generation. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1959, Lippman grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where most of her fiction is set. She worked as a journalist for the Baltimore Sun for many years while also writing novels. After I'm Gone was praised for its sophisticated structure, alternating between timelines, and its nuanced portrait of women whose lives were shaped by a man's disappearance. Her other novels include Every Secret Thing, I'd Know You Anywhere, What the Dead Know, Sunburn, Lady in the Lake, and Dream Girl. She lives in Baltimore with her daughter.
