About Jennifer Egan
Jennifer Egan was born on September 7, 1962, and is an American novelist and short-story writer. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature, then earned an MA from St John's College, Cambridge. Her debut novel The Invisible Circus (1994) was adapted into a 2001 film, and her short fiction has appeared in The New Yorker and Harper's. Egan's breakthrough came with A Visit from the Goon Squad (2010), an innovative novel featuring a PowerPoint chapter and non-linear structure that won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and other honours. She has published six novels, including Manhattan Beach (2017, Andrew Carnegie Medal winner) and The Candy House (2022). From 2018 to 2020 she served as president of PEN America. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons.
