About Jen Williams

Jen Williams is a British author of epic fantasy who won the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel three times—for The Ninth Rain (2018), The Bitter Twins (2019), and Talonsister (2024). This remarkable record of consistent excellence makes her one of the dominant forces in the British Fantasy Award's recent history. Williams was born in 1980 and studied literature at Anglia Ruskin University. Her first series, the Copper Cat trilogy (beginning with The Copper Promise in 2014), established her as a major voice in British secondary world fantasy. The Winnowing Flame trilogy, beginning with The Ninth Rain, was praised for its creative world-building and complex characterization. She has also written standalone novels and continues to be one of the most prolific and celebrated British fantasy authors. She lives in London.
