Javier Sierra is a Spanish novelist and journalist born in 1971 in Teruel. He is best known internationally for The Secret Supper (La cena secreta, 2004), a historical thriller about Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper that became an international bestseller. His fiction characteristically combines historical research, esoteric mystery, and thriller conventions. Sierra is the author of numerous novels including El maestro del Prado (2013), El fuego invisible (2017), and La herencia de la Tierra (2022). His books have been translated into dozens of languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide, making him one of the most commercially successful Spanish novelists. El fuego invisible (The Invisible Fire), his 2017 Premio Planeta winner, is a literary thriller about a researcher who discovers clues in medieval manuscripts that lead him on a quest through Spanish cultural history.
