About Jacqueline Crooks

Jacqueline Crooks is a British writer of Jamaican heritage. Her debut short story collection The Ice Migration (2017) drew on her Jamaican roots. Fire Rush (2023) was her debut novel, following a young Jamaican-British woman in 1970s and 1980s London through the underground reggae music scene. Fire Rush was longlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction 2024 and won the Costa First Novel Award.
