About Jackie Morris
Jackie Morris is a British author-illustrator who won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2019 for The Lost Words, created in collaboration with writer Robert Macfarlane. The Lost Words is a gloriously illustrated celebration of nature words that were removed from the Oxford Junior Dictionary, including 'acorn', 'adder', and 'bluebell', expressed through incantatory prose poetry. Morris is known for her watercolour illustrations of animals, especially wild and mythological creatures, and for picture books that engage with the natural world. She has illustrated The Snow Leopard (2007) by Jackie Morris, East of the Sun, West of the Moon, and many other books. She lives in Wales, in a remote cottage in Pembrokeshire, and is a passionate advocate for the natural world and for children's connection to nature.
