About Grady Hendrix

Grady Hendrix is an American horror novelist, screenwriter, and film critic. Born in South Carolina, he is one of the most entertaining and prolific horror writers of his generation, known for blending genuine scares with dark comedy, pop culture obsession, and feminist themes. His debut novel Horrorstör (2014) was designed to look like an IKEA catalogue; his subsequent novels include My Best Friend's Exorcism (2016), We Sold Our Souls (2018), The Southern Book Club's Guide to Vampire Slaying (2020), The Final Girl Support Group (2021), How to Sell a Haunted House (2023), and Witchcraft for Wayward Girls (2025). Hendrix is also the author of Paperbacks from Hell (2017), a critically acclaimed nonfiction history of horror paperback fiction from the 1970s and 1980s, which won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in Nonfiction. The Final Girl Support Group (2021) and Witchcraft for Wayward Girls (2025) both won the Goodreads Choice Award for Horror, making Hendrix one of the most honoured authors in the category. Hendrix's work is celebrated for its love of horror history, its wit, its page-turning pace, and its genuine emotional intelligence about the lives of women and girls. He lives in New York City.
