About G. Willow Wilson

G. Willow Wilson is an American author and comic book writer known for her novel Alif the Unseen (World Fantasy Award winner, 2013) and her groundbreaking run on the Ms. Marvel comic series, which introduced Kamala Khan, a Muslim-American teenage superhero. She converted to Islam in her early twenties and her faith is an important part of her creative identity. Born in New Jersey, Wilson studied Arabic and Islamic history at Boston University. Alif the Unseen, set in an unnamed Arab city during the Arab Spring, blends cyberpunk and Islamic mythology. She has also written the fantasy novel The Bird King. Wilson's Ms. Marvel was a critical and commercial phenomenon, praised for its authentic representation of Muslim-American life and its reimagining of superhero conventions. She lives in the Seattle area.
