About Elif Shafak

Elif Shafak is a Turkish-British novelist born in Strasbourg, France, in 1971. She is one of Turkey's most widely read and translated authors. Her novels include The Bastard of Istanbul (2006), The Forty Rules of Love (2009), and 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World (2019), which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and the RSL Ondaatje Prize. The Island of Missing Trees (2021) was longlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction. Shafak holds dual Turkish and British citizenship.
