Elif Batuman

Elif Batuman is an American novelist, journalist, and critic of Turkish heritage born in 1977. She studied comparative literature at Stanford University and Harvard. Her memoir The Possessed (2010) blended literary criticism with travel writing. The Idiot (2017) was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction and a Pulitzer Prize finalist. Either/Or (2022) is its sequel. Batuman is a staff writer at The New Yorker.
