About David Diop

David Diop is a French-Senegalese novelist and academic born in Paris in 1966. He won the International Booker Prize in 2021 for *At Night All Blood Is Black*, a short, intense World War I novel told from the perspective of a Senegalese tirailleur. The novel explores colonial trauma, friendship, and madness. He is a professor of 18th-century French literature at the University of Pau.
