About Claire North
Claire North is the pen name of British author Catherine Webb, who also writes as Kate Griffin. She won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel for The Sudden Appearance of Hope (2017), a novel about a woman who is forgotten by everyone she meets the moment they look away from her. North is known for her high-concept thriller premises and literary execution. Webb was born in London in 1986 and published her first novel at the age of fourteen. As Claire North she has written The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, Touch, The Sudden Appearance of Hope, The End of the Day, and many others. Her work consistently explores questions of memory, identity, and what it means to be known and remembered by others. She has won the World Fantasy Award and the BSFA Award. She lives in London.
