Brian McGilloway

Brian McGilloway is a Northern Irish crime fiction author known for the Inspector Devlin series and the DS Lucy Black series, both set in the Irish border counties. He was shortlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger for The Last Crossing (2019). McGilloway was born in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1974 and studied English at Queen's University Belfast. He works as a teacher in Derry while writing crime fiction. His border-set novels explore the complex political and social landscape of Northern Ireland's post-Troubles society with authenticity and compassion. He is a prominent figure in Irish crime fiction and has served on the boards of various literary festivals. McGilloway continues to live and write in Northern Ireland.
