About Aravind Adiga
Aravind Adiga was born on 23 October 1974 in Madras (now Chennai), India, and grew up in Mangalore, Karnataka. He studied English literature at Columbia University (graduating as salutatorian in 1997) and at Magdalen College, Oxford. He began his career in journalism, working for Time magazine as its South Asia correspondent in New Delhi before becoming a freelance writer. His debut novel The White Tiger (2008), a dark satirical narrative of class and ambition in contemporary India, won the Man Booker Prize, making him the fourth Indian-born winner. Subsequent works include the story collection Between the Assassinations (2008), Last Man in Tower (2011), Selection Day (2016), and Amnesty (2020). His work consistently explores the inequalities and social tensions of modern India.
